The first three Matrix films changed action movies forever and made characters like Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus pop culture icons. However, the fourth Matrix film was not as well received as the first three entries in the franchise. Therefore, The Matrix 5 needs to recapture the magic of the original. While not much is known about the upcoming fifth Matrix movie, Drew Goddard, who has previously written and directed films such as The Cabin in the Woods and Bad Times at the El Royale, will write and direct the film.
