The Jurassic Park franchise has been immensely popular with audiences worldwide, grossing over $6 billion at the box office combined and captivating multiple generations. The franchise began in 1993 with Steven Spielberg’s classic film, based on the novel by Michael Crichton, which was followed by the lesser sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, in 1997. The franchise fizzled out after 2001’s Jurassic Park III, the first film not directed by Spielberg nor based on a novel by Crichton, before returning in full force with the reboot, Jurassic World.
