In the recent episodes of Chicago P.D., fans saw unexpected changes between Jason Beghe’s Sgt. Hank Voight and ASA Nina Chapman, played by Sara Bues. Known for being emotionally guarded, Voight has typically avoided romantic entanglements. However, Chapman’s heartfelt confession in Season 12 has left viewers wondering about the pair’s future. Does this lead to a romantic relationship between them?

Here’s what happened between Hank Voight and Nina Chapman in Chicago P.D. Season 12 and what it means for their equation ahead.

Have Hank Voight and ASA Nina Chapman Started Dating in Chicago P.D.?

As of now, Hank Voight and ASA Nina Chapman have not officially started dating in Chicago P.D. However, there is undeniable chemistry between them.

In Season 12 Episode 4, titled “The After,” Chapman opens up to Voight about her feelings. This moment occurs after she assists him on a high-stakes case involving a serial rapist tied to his past. As the two navigate this revelation, it’s unclear how Voight will respond to Chapman’s vulnerability and if it will impact their partnership moving forward.

Voight has kept his emotions tightly guarded since the death of his wife, Camille. However, Chapman’s confession seems to have affected him, even if he hasn’t fully processed it yet. Jason Beghe, who plays Voight, hinted in an interview with NBC Insider that his character may be reluctant but isn’t immune to Chapman’s feelings.

Beghe described Voight as “a human being, and he’s observant.” This implies that despite Voight’s usual demeanor, he is aware of Chapman’s interest. Although, with her two-month assignment with the FBI in Denver approaching, Chicago P.D. fans will have to wait to see if this connection between her and Voight deepens.

Moreover, Chicago P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan recently addressed Voight and Chapman’s relationship on the show, stating how they are a brilliant team. She told NBC Insider, “I don’t know what the hell is happening, and I don’t think [Voight] does either. What’s just so interesting and fun to play with is that they have a chemistry, and so far it’s been very much a work chemistry. And it’s been something that he trusts her in a lot of ways. I think she’s proven herself to him and vice versa.”

However, Sigan also subtly hinted at the two characters’ curiosity about the other, which may evolve in future episodes. “But there’s also, to me, always this level of interest in each other. They have this interest and this trust that just doesn’t come naturally, probably to either of them,” she said. Many fans are hopeful that this could evolve into a meaningful relationship as the season progresses.

ASA Nina Chapman’s emotional confession takes Hank Voight by surprise, as he hasn’t explored romance since his wife passed away years ago. Her vulnerability raises questions about whether he will be able to let down his emotional walls. Will Voight respond to Chapman’s affections? As they navigate this revelation, it’s yet to be seen how it will impact their personal and professional relationship in Chicago P.D. Season 12.
