A Carrie TV show is in the works at Amazon, with modern-day horror icon Mike Flanagan attached to the project, according to a report from Deadline.

What do we know about the Carrie TV show?

Not too much is known about the series as of now, but Flanagan will be attached as an executive producer alongside Trevor Macy for the show. It’s unclear if Flanagan will also have a hand in writing the series, but Deadline’s report notes that a writer’s room is opening soon, which suggests that Amazon is looking to get the project going quickly.

Carrie was originally published in 1974, and is considered one of legendary author’s Stephen King‘s most famous novels. The film was also famously adapted into a film in 1976, which was directed by Brian De Palma and starred Sissy Spacek, John Travolta, and Piper Laurie.

The film, much like the book, is often considered one of the most well-known and greatest horror projects ever made. It is often seen as one of the best film’s based on King’s books ever.

Flanagan has been a mainstay in the world of horror dating back to the 2000s. The filmmaker is best known for creating, writing, and serving as the showrunner on multiple Netflix horror series, including The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, and The Fall of the House of Usher.

In the world of film, Flanagan also wrote and directed several high-profile and successful horror films, including Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Gerald’s Game, Doctor Sleep, and the upcoming The Life of Chuck, which is also based on a Stephen King novella.
