Fortunately for audiences, the follow-up year delivered in surprising ways, whether through never-before-seen premises, stunning performances, extreme gore, hilarity, and some of the best kills on the big (or small) screen. Prequels to established franchises and narratives that took big swings paid off for the most part, and indie horror continued to prove itself as important to the genre as mainstream movies.
