Death was a frequent guest star on The Far Side sometimes literally, as these panels featuring the Grim Reaper and other ghoulish figures show. Artist Gary Larson’s penchant for dark humor meant that many of his characters met tragic, and at times twisted fates; yet the cartoons in which the embodiment of mortality itself appeared were, in typical Far Side fashion, among the silliest, least scary of the strip’s run.
