A great twist can enhance a movie in an instant, but the best filmmakers use foreshadowing to drop clues about their twists beforehand. While it’s always shocking to add a huge twist at the end of a movie, it’s important that a movie does the work to earn this moment. Otherwise, the twist can seem like a cheap stunt that comes out of nowhere. A good twist has to connect to the rest of the movie.
