Directed by Jason Reitman and pulling from the numerous behind-the-scenes stories that have been told about the iconic sketch comedy series’ history, Saturday Night focuses on the chaos that erupted on Studio 8H in the immediate lead-up to Saturday Night Live‘s first episode. Much of the film is centered around Lorne Michaels as he tries to wrestle with the egos, expectations, and eccentricities of his cast, crew, and (perhaps most importantly) the executives who could shut the entire production down.
