WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg and former United States Champion Matt Riddle have not always seen eye to eye. Matt Riddle has frequently criticized Goldberg’s wrestling style.

The tension started in 2019 when Goldberg faced WWE legend The Undertaker at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia. The match was filled with several botched spots, causing both legends to struggle. Goldberg also injured himself, busting his head open when he hit the post during the match. After the controversial bout, fans expressed concern about both WWE legends’ age and health.

Riddle, who had been outspoken about Goldberg’s wrestling style, took shots at him after the match, calling him “absolutely the worst wrestler in the business.” This escalated the tension between the two in WWE. They even had an awkward backstage encounter during WWE SummerSlam 2019.

Matt Riddle has mentioned in the past that he resolved the issue with the WWE Hall of Famer. The former recently shared details of their conversation.

Matt Riddle reflects on settling differences with Goldberg

Matt Riddle recently appeared on the Barstool Rasslin podcast. He shared how he and Goldberg resolved their issues during a flight back from WWE’s Saudi Arabia event. Riddle explained that they had a candid conversation over drinks, which helped clear the air.

The former WWE Superstar stated, “Well, me and Bill, we’ve talked. We were actually on a flight from Saudi, we were on a Saudi show… We had some cocktails and had a discussion.” Riddle did highlight that he as well as Goldberg “has more of an understanding” of each other’s perspectives.

Referring to his UFC experience, Riddle continued, “I completely understand; I don’t mean it that way. We’re professional wrestlers. I’m just spitting facts, and I can back it up… A lot of people in WWE took that as disrespect, but if you fought in UFC and now you’re in WWE, what am I supposed to do, forget my whole career?”

While both Matt Riddle and Goldberg have put their differences aside, the former is currently wrestling on the independent circuit following his release from WWE in 2023. Meanwhile, Goldberg recently confirmed he will have his retirement match in 2025.
