Few anime series in recent memory have had quite the same impact as 2023’s The Apothecary Diaries. Based on a novel series by Natsu Hyga, the series was a runaway success that impressed fans with its medical mysteries and in depth characters. The series’ protagonist, Maomao, is one of the most refreshing anime protagonists in years, as she’s at once kind while also being shrewd and calculating in her own way.
