Nosferatu remake writer and director Robert Eggers explains his decision not to film at the notorious Bran Castle in Transylvania, the place famously associated with the real-life Vlad the Impaler. Based on the original silent film made in 1929 by F.W. Murnau, the new Nosferatu will follow an ancient Transylvanian vampire as he stalks a young woman in 19th century Germany.
