Malakai Black, the leader of The House of Black, unexpectedly lost to Adam Cole on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite. Cole, who made his long-awaited return at AEW WrestleDream 2024, immediately set his sights on MJF.
However, MJF had set a condition for Adam Cole if he wanted a match against “The Salt of the Earth.” Cole had to win three singles matches to earn a shot to face MJF at AEW Full Gear. Cole returned to the ring last week at AEW Dynamite after more than a year away and defeated Buddy Matthews. Following the match, Malakai Black confronted Cole, hinting at another match between the two.
In their second match on AEW Dynamite, Cole defeated Malakai Black in a hard-hitting contest. While Cole gets closer to facing MJF, another interesting development emerged regarding Malakai Black following his match against Cole.

Afterward, the two hugged in the middle of the ring, leaving some fans wondering if this was Black’s final match in the promotion. Backstage reports suggest Malakai Black could soon leave AEW
Recent reports from Fightful Select behind paywall suggest that fans are speculating Malakai Black’s recent match against Adam Cole could have been a “send-off” for him. Backstage rumors in AEW have suggested that Black potentially could leave the promotion by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
The word backstage in AEW in recent months was that they believed Malakai Black would be done with AEW towards the end of 2024 or early 2025. However, that hasn’t been confirmed.

AEW’s President Tony Khan had mentioned that Black’s contract was for nearly five years, but Black has denied this. It’s also reported that Black’s contract includes option years.
