WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes has been at odds this year with The Bloodline members Roman Reigns, The Rock, and Solo Sikoa. Rhodes has been in a rivalry with Roman Reigns since 2023. He faced off with Reigns at WrestleMania 39, where Roman Reigns retained his title with Sikoa’s help.
Although both stars did not cross paths for a year, Cody Rhodes once again challenged Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania 40. After winning the Royal Rumble, Rhodes stepped aside and allowed The Rock to take his place to face Reigns at WrestleMania 40. This led to a huge backlash with the “We Want Cody” movement amongst the fans. This prompted WWE to change the plans to Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns.
This also created tension between The Rock and Cody Rhodes, sparking a new rivalry between Rhodes and The Final Boss ahead of WrestleMania 40. Rhodes achieved the unthinkable by beating Roman Reigns at the event. WWE teased a matchup between Cody Rhodes and The Rock the following night on RAW. Amidst the tension with these Bloodline members, Rhodes recently opened up about the strain with a certain member of The Bloodline.

The WWE Undisputed Champion recently appeared on The Flagrant Podcast. Rhodes revealed the tension with The Bloodline member The Rock during their WrestleMania 40 build. He explained that, while there might have been some lingering tension due to the fans’ clear preference for him.
He stated, “In his defense, I think Rock has become so busy, his output is incredible. I don’t think he knew so much about the current landscape. He knows the company backward and forwards; the show is called SmackDown because he said that word. He set the table for everybody, but I don’t think he was always keeping an eye on the table.”
Cody Rhodes further elaborated on how he grew up watching the wrestling icon. Expressing his admiration, he added, “I grew up a Rock fan. We have yet to debrief on WrestleMania and what happened. I bet his story is a little different…I’d love that, if one day we could have this debrief.” While Rhodes acknowledged the tension between him and The Rock, he holds immense respect for The Rock, having grown up as his fan.
