Recently, Barry Keoghan‘s personal life has been subjected to public scrutiny. On social media, he was criticized for keeping his only son away from the spotlight and not speaking about him online. He was accused of being a neglectful father to his son. However, the actor has debunked all the accusations and has come out clean, stating he prefers to keep his personal life private.
In a recent episode of The Louis Theroux Podcast, Keoghan addressed his online criticism. He said, “There’s a lot online. If I didn’t have tough skin or the strength to have, I wouldn’t be sitting here. Of course, [my childhood is] going to affect me being a father when I had no blueprint to take from. People just read that [as] laziness and go, ‘Oh, that’s no excuse to be an absent father.’ I’m not an absent father.”
He further shared that it makes him angry when people call him a “deadbeat dad.” The Saltburn star said, “Just the audacity of some people, man. It sickens me, makes me furious.”
Although Keoghan tries to stay away from social media, he said his curiosity eventually makes him scroll through the things people say online about him. He also revealed that he blocks some words from social media as he doesn’t want to read them.
In recent years, Keoghan has garnered massive fame and critical acclaim for his appearances in several prominent movies, including MCU’s Eternals and the black comedy flick Saltburn.
