Black Sheep 2 is in the works.
Black Sheep — not to be confused with 1996’s Black Sheep, which starred Chris Farley and David Spade — is a 2006 horror comedy film from New Zealand. Written and directed by Jonathan King, it stars Nathan Meister, Peter Feeney, Danielle Mason, and more.
Per Deadline, WTFilms is now moving forward with a sequel to Black Sheep.
What do we know about Black Sheep 2?
King is returning to direct Black Sheep 2. He wrote the story for the sequel alongside Matthew Grainger and Rosie Howells.
Meister is also returning to reprise his role as Henry Oldfield. The rest of the cast has not yet been announced, though Deadline notes Meister will be “joined by former Black Sheep cast members and new faces.”
“Black Sheep 2 will follow a young scientist who is convinced that a dangerous new pathogen threatens the population and tracks it back to her hometown – which is located in the shadow of the remote sheep station where the macabre events of the original Black Sheep unfolded,” the description reads.
King and Grainger are producing the movie with James Partridge and Samantha Braun. Richard Fletcher, Philippa Campbell, Ari Harrison, and Jasmin McSweeney serve as executive producers.
The synopsis for 2006’s Black Sheep, which is now streaming on Starz, reads, “Terrified of sheep and dosed up on therapy, Henry Oldfield (Nathan Meister) returns to his family’s farm to sell out to his older brother Angus (Peter Feeney), unaware that something baaaad is going on: Angus’ reckless genetic engineering programme. When a pair of inept environmental activists release a mutant lamb from Angus’ laboratory onto the farm, thousands of sheep are turned into bloodthirsty predators. Along with farmhand Tucker (Tammy Davis) and greenie girl Experience (Danielle Mason), Henry finds himself stranded deep on the farm as his worst nightmare comes to life. Battling their way to safety the intrepid trio discover there’s worse to come: one bite from an infected sheep seems to have alarming effect on those bitten … With Angus acting suspiciously sheepish, a delegation of international investors gathering at the homestead and a ravenous flock descending from the hills, Henry must find the farmer within to wrest control of the farm from his monstrous brother, defeat an ovine invasion and save New Zealand’s pastures green.”
Production on Black Sheep 2 is expected to begin in New Zealand this coming spring. A release date has not yet been set.
