Spaceballs 2 has gotten a major progress update from co-writer Josh Gad, who reveals just how far along production is on the upcoming sci-fi comedy sequel. Spaceballs was originally released in 1987, the Mel Brooks-directed movie acting as a parody of Star Wars. The upcoming Spaceballs 2 was announced in June 2024, being developed by Amazon MGM Studios and produced by Gad and Brooks. Gad was also revealed to be writing the script alongside Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez (Pokmon Detective Pikachu), while also being announced to star in the comedy film.
