Rick and Morty has a few noticeable similarities with Back to the Future, and the classic time-travel movie is woven into the series origins. Although Rick and Morty has been hailed as one of the most wildly original shows on television, its full of subtle references to Back to the Future. They have more or less the same premise, albeit with a slight tweak to the sci-fi conceit. Much like Back to the Future, Rick and Morty is about a mad scientist and his teenage companion, and the wacky adventures they get into with the scientists inventions.
