Netflix has announced the American Primeval release date for the upcoming Western thriller drama starring Taylor Kitsch and Betty Gilpin. In addition, the streamer also shared official photos from the series, providing fans with a first look at the main cast.
“This is America…1857. Up is down, pain is everywhere, innocence and tranquility are losing the battle to hatred and fear,” reads the synopsis. “Peace is the shrinking minority, and very few possess grace — even fewer know compassion. There is no safe haven in these brutal lands, and only one goal matters: survival. AMERICAN PRIMEVAL is a fictionalized dramatization and examination of the violent collision of culture, religion, and community as men and women fight and die to keep or control this land.”
American Primeval will be available for streaming starting on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The ensemble cast also includes Dane DeHaan, Shea Whigham, Joe Tippett, Jai Courtney, Kyle Bradley Davis, Dane DeHaan, Lucas Neff, Derek Hinkey, Saura Lightfoot Leon, Preston Mota and Shawnee Pourier.
The series is created and directed by Friday Night Lights’ Pete Berg from a screenplay written by The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith. It is executive produced by Berg for Film 44, Eric Newman for Grand Electric, and Mark L. Smith. The streamer has also enlisted Julie O’Keefe as the show’s Indigenous Cultural Consultant and Project Advisor.
