Return of the Jedi’s ending, showing Master Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker as Force ghosts, has become iconic in Star Wars, but it also created a significant problem in Star Wars movies and TV shows. Return of the Jedi was not the first Star Wars movie to reveal the existence of Force ghosts. After meeting his end in A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi continued to speak to Luke through the Force and then appeared as a visible ghost in The Empire Strikes Back.
