The latest addition to Tim Burtons Batman franchise reveals what the villains of Batman Returns thought of Jack Nicholsons Joker from 1989s Batman. Batman Returns is set in the same continuity as 1989s Batman, but the DC film made only a few small callbacks to the events of its predecessor. John Jackson Millers 2024 novel Batman: Resurrection is an interquel, set between the events of 1989s Batman and Batman Returns, dealing not only with the fallout of the events of the first film, but also including characters previously exclusive to each film within the same story.
